No Time For Illness!

Written by Ontario Family Matters. Posted in Health News

It seems to be that time of year again when sniffles, sore throats and fever are visiting hosts less than willing to welcome them – and habitually staying longer than any guest ought! And, like any good illness, these unwelcomed invaders are only too happy to set themselves upon anyone close enough to be deemed an attractive target! So many are unwilling to remain at home when they are sick, often claiming an unwillingness to use sick leave provided by their employer or the threat of losing income in the absence of illness benefits.

  • Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

  • Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

    Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

    St. Francis of Assis

  • Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.

    Mother Teresa

  • In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.

    Alex Haley

  • I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.

    Agatha Christie

  • You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.

    Desmond Tutu

  • You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

    Buddha

  • Have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts.

    Charles Dickens

  • Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?

    Henry David Thoreau
